From water and geothermal to the energy and minerals sectors, Energold operates approximately 265 drill rigs in over 25 countries and provides a comprehensive range of drilling services.
The drilling industry, and particularly the resource drilling sector, faced significant market headwinds in 2015. Energold needed to communicate these challenges, along with the company’s strategic response, to shareholders in its 2015 Annual Report. Red Rocket Creative Strategies was hired to produce the report, developing key messages and a theme that would illustrate the difficulties Energold faced while also communicating the reasons for management’s optimism in 2016 and beyond.
Interviews with management revealed a significant shift in Energold’s growth strategy, moving towards greener, more sustainable sectors and diversifying into markets less susceptible to the major cycles that defined the resource sectors. These ideas led to the annual report theme of “Sustainability,” representing not only Energold’s new direction but also management’s ability to fulfil this ambitious vision.
The report design and imagery reflected a dynamic, greener tone that highlighted Energold’s vision and innovations, focusing on water, geothermal and geotechnical drilling over the company’s traditional resource-based drilling. Report copy helped management explain their reasoning for the strategic shift, including how their changing revenue mix and industry trends called for bold decisions to thrive.
The result was a report that pulled no punches regarding market challenges, but one that also helped Energold shareholders see the exciting opportunities those challenges presented.
